The state administration has continued to highlight agriculture as a key sector of the economy, with procurement support.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that the state government has extended the wheat procurement deadline from May 23 to May 28, 2026, in a move aimed at supporting farmers during the procurement season.

According to the Chief Minister, the decision was taken keeping farmer welfare and convenience in mind so that eligible cultivators can complete the sale of their produce without difficulty.

Mohan Yadav: Over 91 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Wheat Procured

State government officials stated that more than 91 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have already been procured across Madhya Pradesh during the ongoing procurement process.

Authorities said the extension is expected to provide additional time for farmers who were unable to complete procurement formalities or transport their crops to procurement centres within the earlier deadline.

Focus on Farmer Welfare

The Madhya Pradesh government has been emphasizing agricultural support measures, procurement systems, and farmer welfare initiatives as major priorities under its rural development agenda.

Officials believe that extending the procurement period can help ensure smoother operations at procurement centres and reduce inconvenience for farmers during peak agricultural activity.

Procurement Process Continues Across State

The wheat procurement programme is being carried out through designated procurement centres across the state under government supervision. Authorities stated that arrangements are being maintained to facilitate smooth procurement, storage, and payment processes for farmers.

The state administration has continued to highlight agriculture as a key sector of the economy, with procurement support and farmer-centric policies remaining central to its development strategy.
