CM Yogi Adityanath: What was once written off as a neglected city in eastern Uttar Pradesh has silently become one of the state’s most compelling industrial success stories. And the numbers are starting to talk for themselves.
CM Yogi’s Big Claim: 50,000 Jobs in Five Years
Addressing a meeting of the Labour Department, CM Yogi Adityanath said in the last five years, so much investment has come in Gorakhpur that 50,000 youth have got jobs — a number that would have been unimaginable a decade ago. The CM attributed the UP government’s investor-friendly attitude, saying it wants to work in collaboration with all its investors for the development of Uttar Pradesh.

The Investment Comeback: A Story of Fear to Opportunity
CM Yogi sharply contrasted it with the pre-2017 era, claiming that there was once a “mafia raj” that ran parallel to the government, with every district gripped by fear and terror — daughters unable to go to school, businessmen unable to do trade, and roads in a sorry state with no electricity. He argued that investment followed the restoration of law and order.
Big Projects That Are Leading The Change
In one of the landmark investments, CM Yogi inaugurated projects worth ₹2,251 crore being developed in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority area, including a ₹120 crore Plastic Park, a ₹700 crore Coca-Cola plant, housing schemes and industrial clusters to create local employment in Gorakhpur, Azamgarh and Kushinagar. The CM also emphasised eco-friendly industrial development, with Common Effluent Treatment Plants to be set up to maintain clean surroundings.
A Vision Beyond Work
CM Yogi made clear the government’s larger ambition — not only providing jobs, but empowering youth to become job creators themselves. That’s the beginning of Gorakhpur’s industrial revolution.
