Transport Department issues safety advisory after recent road accidents
The department has reminded motorists to adhere to the prescribed speed limits. The maximum speed has been fixed at 100 kmph for cars and 80 kmph for heavy vehicles. Officials said violations are being monitored through electronic surveillance cameras, and offenders will be issued e-challans.
Drivers have also been warned against stopping vehicles unnecessarily on the expressway, taking U-turns, reversing, or driving in the wrong direction, as these actions are strictly prohibited and significantly increase the risk of accidents.
The advisory further urges motorists to avoid unnecessary honking while passing through the Rajaji National Park stretch and to remain especially alert during night travel due to the possible movement of wild animals. Drivers have also been instructed to keep their headlights on and drive cautiously while passing through the Asharodi and Datkali tunnel sections.
The Transport Department has appealed to commuters to follow all safety guidelines, maintain lane discipline, and drive responsibly to ensure a safe and hassle-free journey on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.
