Bhagwant Mann: Punjab Police arrest 187 drug smugglers in Day 489 anti-drug operation

The force reiterated its commitment to making Punjab drug-free through a combination of strict legal action, preventive measures, and rehabilitation initiatives.

Punjab Police continued its statewide anti-drug campaign under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ on Day 489, intensifying action against drug trafficking networks across the state.

According to Punjab Police, 187 drug smugglers were arrested during the latest operation. Police also recovered 2.1 kg of heroin, 712 intoxicant pills, and ₹22,900 in suspected drug money from the accused.

Apart from enforcement action, Punjab Police said 12 individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment as part of the campaign’s focus on rehabilitation alongside law enforcement.

The anti-drug drive is being carried out in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and district police units, targeting drug smugglers through intelligence-based operations and sustained enforcement across Punjab.
