The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of a 6-lane Greenfield Elevated Corridor connecting NH-19 with the Varanasi Ring Road, marking a significant infrastructure development for Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Government, the project will span approximately 46.039 kilometres and is estimated to cost ₹14,447.64 crore. The new corridor is expected to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and facilitate smoother movement of vehicles in and around Varanasi.

The project also includes the construction of ramps, loops, and foot overbridges, aimed at enhancing accessibility and ensuring safer travel for commuters and pedestrians.
The approval is expected to strengthen Varanasi’s transport infrastructure, improve travel efficiency, and support economic growth by providing faster and more seamless connectivity between NH-19 and the city’s ring road network.
