The Punjab government has intensified the cleaning of drainage channels to minimise the risk of crop damage caused by rainwater, according to a statement shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab.
Bhagwant Mann Government Continues Drain Cleaning
The party said that silt and accumulated material are being removed from drains to ensure the smooth discharge of rainwater. The ongoing work is aimed at improving drainage capacity and reducing the possibility of waterlogging in agricultural areas during periods of heavy rainfall.
Drain Cleaning to Protect Crops from Rainwater Damage
According to AAP Punjab, regular desilting of drains is being carried out to help farmers protect their crops from rain-related damage. The government has also stressed the importance of maintaining an efficient drainage system to deal with excess water during intense spells of rain.
The initiative is being presented as a preventive measure to reduce the chances of difficult situations arising in the event of heavy rainfall and to safeguard agricultural fields across Punjab.
The AAP Punjab post highlighted the state government’s efforts under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to strengthen rainwater management and provide relief to farmers during the monsoon season.
