An accident occurred at night when an air-conditioned sleeper bus, which was carrying approximately 35 passengers, burst into flames while driving on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida late Wednesday evening. The number of deaths due to this accident stood at nine, with efforts being made to save people and provide relief.
The bus caught fire on the journey
This bus, which had been traveling from Noida to Mahoba, caught fire in the vicinity of the Dayanatpur village in Jewar on the Yamuna Expressway. The passengers were sleeping and woke up to see smoke and flames from the burning bus.

People rushed out of the bus
As per a passenger interviewed by ANI, people in the bus were woken up due to the outbreak of fire and tried to get out of the bus. Some passengers were seen jumping out of the moving bus as the fire spread rapidly.
Nine people dead
The fire claimed nine lives, as per the information shared by officials. Emergency services came to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control.
Response of authorities
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, condoled the families of the deceased and instructed officials to assist the families of the victims and ensure proper medical aid to the injured. Rescue efforts are being conducted by the police and other concerned authorities.
