Bhagwant Mann arrested 117 alleged drug smugglers and recovered heroin, opium, poppy husk and intoxicant pills during operations conducted on the 571st day of its ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drug campaign.
According to the Punjab Police, the latest operations resulted in the seizure of 20.3 kg of heroin, 2 kg of opium, 15 kg of poppy husk, 737 intoxicant pills and ₹500 in suspected drug money. The police also said 21 individuals were counselled and persuaded to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.

The latest arrests form part of the Punjab Police’s continuing enforcement campaign against drug networks across the state.
With the latest action, the total number of alleged drug smugglers arrested during the 571-day campaign reached 79,463, according to figures reported by the police.
The campaign, titled ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, was launched in March 2025 and has involved enforcement operations targeting the supply and distribution of narcotics.
Heroin and Other Narcotics Recovered
Heroin accounted for the largest quantity among the substances recovered in the latest operation, with police reporting a seizure of 20.3 kg.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of 2 kg of opium and 15 kg of poppy husk, along with 737 intoxicant pills. Police additionally reported recovering ₹500 in suspected drug money.
The reported seizures are part of the broader enforcement effort against narcotics trafficking in Punjab.
Focus on De-Addiction and Rehabilitation
Alongside arrests and seizures, Punjab Police has continued to include de-addiction and rehabilitation as part of its anti-drug campaign.
