Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann congratulated Indian shot-putter Tajinderpal Singh Toor after he won the silver medal in the men’s shot put at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya, Japan.
Toor produced a best throw of 20.64 metres to finish second in the final. Iran’s Mohammadreza Tayebise won the gold with an Asian Games record throw of 20.81 metres, while Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Tolu secured the bronze with 20.48 metres.
Tajinderpal Singh Toor Wins Third Consecutive Asian Games Medal
The silver medal extends Toor’s remarkable record at the Asian Games. He has now won medals at three consecutive editions, securing gold in 2018 and 2022, followed by silver in 2026.
His latest podium finish came after challenging conditions during the men’s shot put final, with rain affecting the competition in Nagoya.

Bhagwant Mann congratulated Toor on his latest medal and highlighted his three consecutive Asian Games podium finishes as a matter of pride for Punjab.
In his message, Mann noted Toor’s record of two gold medals and one silver medal across the three Asian Games and extended his congratulations to the athlete for the achievement.
Toor Continues Strong Asian Games Record
Toor’s latest silver adds another medal to his Asian Games career. His first gold came at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, where he also set an Asian Games record with a throw of 20.75 metres.
With the 2026 silver, Toor has maintained his presence on the Asian Games podium across three successive editions, further adding to his record in the men’s shot put event.
