Bharadwaj made the announcement through a social media post on September 28, urging people to join the proposed demonstration. The call comes amid an ongoing political dispute over the functioning of the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The proposed demonstration is focused on the demand for Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation as Chief Election Commissioner.
Opposition Raises Concerns Over Election Commission
The planned protest comes amid wider opposition criticism of the Election Commission over the SIR exercise and its functioning. Opposition leaders and groups have raised concerns about changes to electoral rolls and the process followed by the poll body.
The Election Commission, however, has maintained that decisions concerning the SIR exercise were taken with the unanimous approval of the Commission, rejecting suggestions of institutional dissent.
October 2 Protest Awaits Police Permission
As of September 29, Delhi Police had not granted permission for the proposed Jantar Mantar demonstration, according to police sources cited by multiple reports.
The October 2 call is part of a broader series of protests and political activity surrounding demands for accountability from the Election Commission and criticism of the ongoing electoral-roll revision process.
