Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has announced the distribution of LPG cylinder refill subsidies worth ₹1,500 crore to more than 1.89 crore eligible families in the state ahead of Diwali. The announcement was made as part of the government’s efforts to provide financial relief to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

In a post on social media platform X on November 3, Adityanath said the subsidy distribution would take place in Lucknow on the occasion of Diwali. He said the initiative was aimed at ensuring that financial difficulties did not force poor families to return to traditional cooking methods that produce smoke.

Ujjwala Yojana Aims to Promote Clean Cooking Fuel: CM Yogi Adityanath

The Chief Minister highlighted the role of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in providing clean cooking fuel to economically weaker households. He said the scheme had helped improve convenience and support the health and dignity of women by reducing dependence on smoke-producing traditional chulhas.

Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the Centre’s welfare initiatives for expanding access to LPG connections among poor families. He also contrasted the present government’s welfare priorities with those of previous administrations, alleging that earlier governments had neglected the difficulties faced by women in poor households.

Financial Assistance Ahead of Diwali

According to the Chief Minister, the state government would distribute ₹1,500 crore as LPG refill subsidy support to more than 1.89 crore eligible families. The announcement comes ahead of the festival of lights, when household expenses often increase.

Adityanath said the government’s objective was to ensure that no poor family was compelled to return to smoke-filled kitchens because of financial constraints. He described the assistance as part of the government’s commitment to making clean cooking fuel accessible and supporting household welfare.
