MIB releases guidelines for resuming media production work

The Ministry has formulated the general SOPs taking into consideration international practices

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has published a detailed SOP for restarting work in media production. These guidelines have been put into place to ensure safety for the cast and crew and reducing contagion of COVID-19.

The Ministry has formulated the general SOPs taking into consideration international practices notified in the sector including physical distancing, designated entry and exit for shoot locations, contact minimization and following of travel-related guidelines issued by MHA including quarantine/isolation.

Specifically, with regard to face masks, as per international practices, face mask has been made mandatory for cast and crew except for actors in front of the camera.

Staggered call and pack up timings must be followed for different production units at studios with multiple sets. Regular sanitisation of sets, make-up rooms, vanity vans, and washrooms must be ensured.

Higher risk employees should take extra precautions and preferably not be exposed to frontline work requiring contact with the public.

The Guiding Principle and SOP may be used by all states and other stakeholders and state governments while resuming Media Production.

Mr Javadekar said many parts of the country have seen complete closure of this segment of the industry and few states have allowed partial shooting but today government is issuing SOP as per international experience. He expressed confidence that the decision will be welcomed by everyone related to the film and TV industry.

He also, said the Film and TV industry is an important aspect of the economy and it offers employment to millions of people.
