The last lunar eclipse of the year 2022 is going to take occur on 7-8 November 2022. Earlier, the last solar eclipse of the year took place on October 25, 2022, the day after Diwali. This last lunar eclipse of the year will take place on November 7-8, 2022, on the day of Dev Deepawali, just 15 days after the solar eclipse.

The first lunar eclipse of the year took place on 16 May 2022. The lunar eclipse on November 7-8 is taking place on the full moon date of Kartik month. This last lunar eclipse of the year will be a total lunar eclipse.

The November 7 lunar eclipse will be unique since it will not happen again till 2025. The next Total Lunar Eclipse will only happen on September 7, 2025.

What is a total lunar eclipse?

During a lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the Moon and the Sun while orbiting the Sun. During this, the moon is completely hidden from the shadow of the earth. During a total lunar eclipse, the Sun, Earth and the Moon are in direct line with each other. During this, when we see the moon from the earth, it appears black to us and it is called a lunar eclipse.

This lunar eclipse will be visible mainly from most parts of North-East Europe, Asia, Australia, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, North America and South America. No eclipse will be visible from South-West Europe and the continent of Africa.

In India, the total eclipse will be visible only from the eastern parts. This last lunar eclipse of the year can be seen in Kolkata, Siliguri, Patna, Ranchi, Guwahati.
