An expecting mother must not only be looked after physically but also spiritually and emotionally. Here are some of the dos and don’ts according to the Vastu Shastra for pregnant women.
Vastu Tips: Suggestions for expecting mothers
Bringing a life into the world is a delicate and positive event. The entire process from conception to birth is divine and thus it demands to be surrounded by positive energy. Vastu Shastra lays down important suggestions for women expecting babies. Following are the guidelines to be followed by pregnant women:
Choice of rooms
According to Vastu Shastra, women must choose a south-western room or a north-eastern room to sleep at night. They must avoid sleeping in a northwest-facing room at all costs. Alternatively, they must not sit in dark rooms which may invoke feelings of sadness.
Choice of house interiors
Some interior options must not be overlooked if there is a pregnant woman in the house. There shouldn’t be a staircase in the center of the house because it may affect the expecting mother’s health adversely. War paintings or anything that may depict negativity must be avoided. Moreover, there should not be any beams in the center of the house as they may lead to disturbance in the mind. Heavy furniture must be kept away from the Brahmasthan i.e., the centre of the house.
Choice of colors to wear
While selecting clothes to wear, expecting mothers must avoid wearing dark colors. Instead, they must opt for pastel colors like peach, green, blue, ivory, etc.
Choice of healthy practices
Expecting mothers must adopt healthy practices as the nine-month period can prove to be extremely strenuous. They must practice breathing exercises and meditation to calm their minds. Fresh flowers must be kept around the areas they spend most of their time. Pregnant women must also spend time reading good motivational books to keep a positive attitude toward life.
