    Rajasthan News: The country’s first high-speed railway testing track is being developed in the Didwana-Kuchaman region of Rajasthan with an estimated cost of ₹820 crore. According to officials, 95% of the work has been completed, and the remaining tasks are in the final phase. This track will enable speed testing of high-speed trains, boosting India’s capabilities in high-speed rail operations. The project is being executed under the supervision of the Ministry of Railways.

    64-Kilometer Track for Testing and Research

    The 64-kilometer-long testing track, under the purview of the Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), is being constructed between Gudha Salt and Thathana Mithri. It includes a 23-kilometer mainline comprising:

    • A 13-kilometer high-speed loop at Gudha Salt.
    • A 3-kilometer quick testing loop at Nawa.
    • A 20-kilometer curve testing loop at Mithri.

    The project also involves the construction of major bridges, small bridges, underpasses, and overpasses for testing train stability and speed under various conditions.

    Fourth Country with Dedicated High-Speed Testing Facility

    Once operational, India will join the ranks of the United States, Australia, and Germany as the fourth country to have a dedicated high-speed railway testing track. Trains will be tested at speeds of up to 220 km/h on this track, evaluating their speed, stability, and structural integrity. Future trials of high-speed, semi-high-speed, and metro trains will also be conducted on this track.

    Cutting-Edge Technology Implementation

    The track is being built using advanced technology, including RCC and steel bridges with vibration-dampening mechanisms. These structures will analyze the impact of high-speed train operations on infrastructure.

    Railway officials emphasize that the track’s design will assess how high speeds affect train shocks, vibrations, and structural components. This initiative marks a significant step toward modernizing Indian Railways and achieving new technological milestones.
