Auto Expo 2023: Honda's dual-sport XRE 300 flex fuel bike with 259mm of ground clearance unveiled, details here

Auto Show 2023: Honda decided to skip Auto Expo 2023 as a brand, but it actually showed off the XRE 300, a motorcycle from its international lineup that got a lot of attention. The bike, which can use both gasoline and ethanol, was displayed at the flex-fuel capable bikes pavilion at Auto Expo 2023.

The Brazil-specific The engine that powers the Honda XRE 300 is a single-cylinder air-cooled unit that has a capacity of 291.6 cc and is capable of running on both gasoline and ethanol in a flex-fuel configuration. It has 25.4hp at 7,500rpm and 27.6Nm of torque at 6,000rpm when it's running on gasoline. When it's running on ethanol, which is commonly used in Brazil, it has 25.6hp at 7,500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. In contrast to the common 6-speed gearbox, the XRE 300 has a more traditional 5-speed gearbox (similar to the Royal Enfield Himalayan). Even though these parts are much simpler than those of the competition, the Honda XRE 300's best feature is its ability to go off-road.

At the front, there is a 256mm disc and at the back, there is a 220mm disc

Most bikes in this category have cast alloy wheels that are 19 inches wide and 17 inches wide. This gives them more agility on the road but makes them less stable off the road. The Honda XRE 300 has wire-spoke wheels that are 21 inches in diameter and 259 mm of ground clearance. This figure comes at the expense of accessibility, as the XRE 300 has a rather high 860mm seat height (even higher than the KTM 390 Adventure), but at 148 kg, it is considerably lighter than its competitors. A telescopic fork with 245mm of travel and a mono-shock with 225mm of travel is used for suspension. At the front, there is a 256mm disc and at the back, there is a 220mm disc.

It has a simple LCD digital display

The Honda XRE 300 isn't a very well-equipped bike in terms of features. It has a simple LCD digital display (but no gear position indicator) and LED lights all around. It also has anti-lock brakes (ABS).

A Honda XRE 300 was seen testing in India a few months ago, along with its main competitors, the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G 310 GS. Even though this doesn't confirm it, the fact that Honda is comparing the XRE 300 to its competitors suggests that the company might be thinking about bringing this model to our market.
