CF Moto to launch a retro mini bike, will compete with Honda Grom in the international markets, all we know so far

CF Moto: The business is about to release a machine with a retro design that seems very appealing.

The “CF125-8” has decals that read “Papio XO-1” apparently the name it will have in the showroom was discovered in Chinese type-approval paperwork. It has the same chassis and air-cooled single-cylinder engine as the conventional Papio but has a different suspension and entirely distinct design that is inspired by the 1980s.

Design

The XO-1 version of the Papio has forks that are upside-down instead of right-side up, and the rear end has also been altered to accommodate the XO-1’s licence plate positioned on the swingarm. The XO-1’s bodywork is all new as well and is dominated by vintage fairing with two circular headlamps. Despite being contemporary LED lights, the way the two lights are arranged over a black background makes them look from the past.

In contrast to the standard Papio, which has passenger pegs mounted on extensions of the rider’s footpeg brackets, the stepped seat places the pillion quite high and hangs from the subframe. The standard Papio’s tall, broad bars and lower pegs located further forward are replaced by low, clip-on bars and rear-set footpegs, and the fuel tank has the type of boxy design that contemporary bikes have long since abandoned in favour of more dynamic surfaces.
