Improvement in passenger vehicle sales in June 2020.

The past month proved to be quite cheerful for tractor makers and for two-wheeler.

After tired and pale April and  a reaped May, June 2020 saw car companies and their dealers functions, in different states of inclination, for the entire month.

The past month proved to be a quite cheerful for tractor makers and for two wheeler. While passenger vehicle sale are slowly picking up, commercial vehicle are a hard play.

Credit rating agency ICRA  in April said that with unit sales likely to decline between 11-13 percent at around 18 million units in FY2021, the two-wheeler industry (2W) is about to witness another year of demand contraction. The fall is expected following the adverse impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on economic growth and discretionary spending.

Toyota car sales in May 2020 registered 1639 units in the Indian market. The low sales were mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, which resulted in low customer sentiments to purchase new vehicles.

While, Maruti Suzuki posted total sales of 57,428 units in June 2020 (including 52,300 units in the domestic market and 839 units to another OEM). In addition, the Company exported 4,289 units in June 2020.

Ashish Harsharaj Kale, FADA president, said the numbers in May were not indicative of the demand situation as the lockdown still continued in many parts.
