Mahindra Electric SUVs: Five brand new SUVs that will raise the bar in the EV market, details here

Mahindra Electric SUVs: Mahindra has finally unveiled its line of electric vehicles after months of tease. Five electric vehicles, divided into two sub-brands (XUV with Mahindra’s twin peaks emblem in Copper and Born Electric or BE), have been launched by the Indian company. The modular INGLO platform, which draws components from Volkswagen’s MEB platform, serves as the foundation for the SUVs.

Mahindra has unveiled the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09 under the two sub-brands. Except for the BE.09, Mahindra will introduce all of these electric SUVs between 2024 and 2026, with the initial introduction taking place in India.

All of the electric SUVs have contemporary, concept-car-like designs. It goes without saying that nothing on the roads here even comes close to the design of these five EVs. The INGLO platform, which is modular and can support the construction of vehicles of any size and shape, has been used to build the cars. The cabin is roomy since the electric platform has fewer components than ICE vehicles and gains from having a flat floor. In a very driver-focused design, the instrument panel and infotainment display have been combined into one panel, and the centre tunnel envelops the driver.

Anish Shah, Managing Director & CEO, Mahindra Group, commented on the company’s array of electric SUVs, saying, “We are proud and delighted to display our Born Electric vision. It offers a strategic path that is consistent with our basic values of “Rise” to become one of the top organisations in the world and “Rise for Our Planet” to combat climate change. Customers can expect future-proof technology, stunning design, top-notch products, and the advantages of international alliances from Mahindra.

Mahindra has contributed significant knowledge to the creation of these electric SUVs. They all employ the same battery pack design, which uses either the Blade or Prismatic cell architecture. The battery packs have a capacity of 60 to 80 kWh and can be fast-charged at 175 kW, achieving a charge of 0 to 80% in less than 30 minutes. High accuracy, safety, range, and longevity are all provided by the battery management system.

The electric SUVs are available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems. For RWD, the power ranges from 225 to 280 horsepower, and for AWD, it is between 335 and 390 horsepower. According to Mahindra, a 0 to 100 mph acceleration time of 5 to 6 seconds is comparable to that of a sports vehicle. Aerodynamics, reduced rolling resistance, zero-drag wheel bearings, and HVAC with low power consumption have all been used to optimise the range.

Mahindra BE.07

A semi-active suspension that balances comfort and sporty character controls the ride and handling. The brake-by-wire system is the next and has a range of adjustment. Drive modes control numerous features of the car, altering how each component reacts. With a structural cage around the passenger compartment, a front with three load paths, a multi-piece dash panel, and superior battery protection provided by boron steel, safety has always been of the utmost importance. The SUVs are also equipped with Level 2+ ADAS, which makes use of 5 radars and other sensors.

The INGLO platform employs a centralised computing network with three machines to handle all tasks on the software front. It has an inbuilt 5G network capabilities that allows for continuous over-the-air updates for the car. The newest generation of ships’ microprocessors claim 200K DMIPS of computational capability using a Dual Octa-core processor that interacts with the high-resolution display.

Mahindra BE.09

Mahindra may have been a little slow to get on the electric car bandwagon, but the business has made every effort to make a splash with its introduction to the market. Mahindra will be a very formidable competitor to the present and new electric vehicles in India with its five electric SUVs and two sub-brands. By 2027, Mahindra projects that electric vehicles will account for one-fourth of its overall sales.
