Mahindra Scorpio Classic: The modification of a 20-year old variant will steal your heart, details here

Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Mahindra may have recently unveiled the new Scorpio-N ladder-frame SUV with cutting-edge technology, but the company didn’t forget about the reliable Scorpio. The latter will continue to be offered by the Indian company in the shape of the Scorpio Classic, which has a new diesel engine and some aesthetic and interior improvements.

Originally released in 2002, the Mahindra Scorpio had updates in 2006, 2009, and 2014. The Scorpio Classic upgrade from 2022 commemorates the achievement of 20 years.

With the new Mahindra symbol and vertical chrome strips replacing the previous Jeep-inspired design, the redesigned grille is where styling changes are most noticeable. A bigger aluminum-style skidplate and integrated DRLs in the front bumper complete the revamp of the front bumper. The five-spoke style of the 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels is retained, but they have a more contemporary appearance. It’s interesting to note that the taillights, which now feature new LED graphics, revert to one of the Scorpio models’ pre-facelifted vertical design, rising all the way to the roof (the latest facelift featured plastic add-ons in this area).

Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Interior:

The interior’s new 9-inch infotainment display, which adds smartphone connectivity to the mix, is the focal point. With quilted upholstery on the seats and wood accents on the centre console, Mahindra chose a beige/black colour scheme for the interior of the car in the photographs. We have to admit that the design can’t hide its age despite the nice upgrades.

Mahindra Scorpio Classic: Engine:

The new 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine, which generates 130 horsepower (37 kW / 132 PS) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque, is the most significant improvement over the previous Scorpio. These numbers are an upgrade over the standard Scorpio, albeit they may not be as remarkable as the 173 horsepower (129 kW / 175 PS) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of the Scorpio-N. According to Mahindra, the new engine is 14 percent more efficient and 55 kg (121 pounds) less than the outgoing one. A new six-speed manual gearbox distributes power to all four wheels.

In addition to installing a new engine, Mahindra has upgraded the steering and suspension systems. Due to the Scorpio Classic’s 20-year-old ladder-frame chassis, don’t anticipate unibody levels of handling and control to match its well-proven off-road prowess.

On August 20, Mahindra will reveal the Scorpio Classic’s price. The SUV will promote itself as a more cost-effective alternative in the Mahindra lineup by being priced less than the Scorpio-N, which has a more contemporary appearance.
