Mahindra Thar: Your favourite Thar is getting an upgrade, a 5-door model to launch in India soon

Mahindra Thar: The Indian automaker intends to release the Mahindra Thar 5-door version for the Indian market in response to the popularity of the 3-door model and it has a lengthy waiting times. This brand-new off-road SUV has been discussed for some time and has lately been sighted in testing. The new footage of the SUV in camouflage operating on a highway shows several information about the new vehicle. The Mahindra Thar appears to be larger in its updated form and appears to have kept the same neo-retro styling cues as the 3-door model.

It should be mentioned that Mahindra Thar competes fiercely with Force Gurkha on the Indian market. According to recent sources, the Force Gurkha’s 5-door variant is also being developed and is getting ready to be introduced in India. Furthermore, according to rumours, Maruti Suzuki is also developing the 5-door Jimny for the Indian market to compete with both of these off-roader SUVs.

The major difference

The 5-door test vehicle appears to have a longer wheelbase than the Mahindra Thar’s three-door version, and the back has an upright tailgate with an attached spare tyre and rectangular-shaped LED tail lamps. The turn indicators are situated on the broad wheel fenders, and there is plenty of space between the wheels and the wheel arches itself.

However, other characteristics like upright tall pillars, a front windshield with a slight slope, a flat roofline, rectangular outside rearview mirrors, and hidden roof rails are also present. The presence of rear doors and a longer rear overhang are the two most obvious differences.

Specifications

The 3-door and 5-door versions of the Mahindra Thar will mainly have the same features, includes a few more features that will enhance ownership for those purchasing cars in that price range. Every passenger will have a USB connector, and there will also be back AC vents among other things. A sunroof might also be included.

The 2.0-liter petrol engine may be used to power the Mahindra Thar 5-door model, with a 2.2-liter diesel engine also an option but most likely with different power and torque ratings. There will be two different six-speed gearbox options: a six-speed MT and a six-speed AT.
