Maruti Ertiga: The all new MPV is feature-rich, powerful and fuel-efficient, read on to know why This MVP sells like hot cake

Maruti Ertiga: Ertiga is also a well-liked option in many foreign markets, including those in Thailand, the Philippines, South Africa, and Indonesia. Suzuki has now debuted the revised Ertiga for the Philippines at the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show, despite the fact that the 2022 Ertiga facelift was first shown in India in April of this year (PIMS). It should be noted that Indian factories produce Filipino Ertiga. Ertiga manufactured in India is sold to a number of other nations.

Though there aren’t many design and stylistic distinctions, the international-spec Ertiga’s equipment list unquestionably looks nicer. It receives certain more features that the Ertiga made for India does not have. As the Philippines is a left-hand drive nation, the driver’s cockpit is also left-oriented.

What’s new?

The improved Ertiga in the Philippines comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen than the 7-inch touchscreen that is available with the Ertiga in India. The touchscreen infotainment system’s functionality hasn’t changed significantly, though. It is run on Suzuki’s Smartplay Pro platform, which offers a number of connected car features and voice commands. Theft vehicle notice and tracking, tow away alert and tracking, geo-fencing, time fencing, driver behaviour, overspeeding warning, and remote functions are some of the important features.

A 360-degree surround vision camera is an important feature to the Ertiga that meets international standards. In India, this is available with the XL6, but not the Ertiga. Given that the Ertiga is advertised as a cost-effective MPV, the explanation appears obvious. In contrast, the XL6 has captain seats in the middle row and a premium profile.

With the international-spec Ertiga, another feature was added: a motorised tailgate. In India, not even the XL6 or a few other MPVs have powered tailgates. The main focus appears to be on controlling costs. However, it’s feasible that Maruti will eventually include these additional capabilities with the highest-end Ertiga models.

Top performer

Despite having more features than the international-spec Ertiga, it still uses the K15B mild-hybrid motor. It is coupled to a 4-speed automatic transmission that was previously offered in India with the Ertiga before the facelift. The K15C Smart Hybrid motor that powers the current Ertiga in India offers enhanced performance and fuel economy.

The K15C 1.5-liter gasoline engine produces a maximum power of 102 HP and a maximum torque of 137 Nm. It can be connected to a 5-speed manual or a 6AT. With a manual transmission, fuel economy is 20.51 km/l; with an automatic transmission, it is 20.30 km/l. The Maruti Ertiga also comes with a CNG alternative, which has a 26.11 km/kg fuel economy rating.

Safeguards for international standards Ertiga features a pedestrian injury prevention system, reverse parking sensor, ABS, and dual airbags. Ultra-high tensile steel is used in the construction of the MPV, which is engineered to efficiently absorb and disperse impact energy in the event of a collision. Global NCAP awarded the 2019 Ertiga (dual airbags) a 3-star rating. Its main competition, the Kia Carens (6-airbags), received a 3-star rating in 2022 as well.
