Maruti Suzuki: Big announcement! The company’s entire vehicle line-up to comply with E20 fuel by next year

Maruti Suzuki: Both alternative fuels and electric vehicles are top priorities for Maruti Suzuki. The top automaker in the nation recently declared that its first all-electric vehicle would be released in 2025. Now, the company has confirmed that by the end of next year, every model in its lineup will be E20 fuel compliant. The Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highway has mandated that all automakers convert to E20 fuel-powered engines by April 2023. According to the administration, this would enable the nation to reduce its carbon footprint and reach net zero emissions by 2070.

Chief Technical Officer of Maruti Suzuki Vehicles

Speaking with CV Raman, Maruti Suzuki’s Chief Technical Officer, he stated, “By April 2023, the company’s whole range would be E20 compliant.” E10 refers to the current blend of ethanol in Indian gasoline, which ranges from 10% to 15%. The ethanol blend will rise to 20 to 25 percent by April of next year, which will improve fuel efficiency and help cut carbon dioxide emissions. E20 fuel substitution will lessen India’s dependency on imported fuels.

Because the higher concentration of ethanol can be harmful to older engines, some minor upgrades and alterations to the engines will be necessary. Raman goes on to say that it is imperative to replace the rubber and fuel hoses and calibrate the engine.

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly developing E85-compatible engines already, but the firm is being silent on the matter.
