Maruti Suzuki Brezza: The Brezza CNG SUV from Maruti Suzuki is now on display at the Auto Expo. Since the diesel was discontinued in 2020, the SUV will now have two fuel options. Back in January 2022, we had earlier reported that Maruti Suzuki was developing a CNG variant of the Brezza.
Except for the inclusion of the S-CNG logo found on other Maruti CNG vehicles, the exterior of the Brezza CNG won't change. However, the CNG tank will result in less boot room than the fuel counterpart.
The Brezza CNG's interior will be completely black. The Brezza CNG is anticipated to be available in the mid-spec VXi and ZXi variants, just like other Maruti CNG models, and feature features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+, voice assistant, connected car technology with OTA updates, start/stop button, six airbags, and a rear-view camera.
The 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine that powers the CNG version of the Ertiga MPV is likely to also power the forthcoming Brezza. This engine powers the Ertiga with 88 horsepower and 121.5 pound-feet of torque while running on petrol alone. Therefore, it is anticipated that the Brezza CNG will provide comparable output figures.
Given that the Brezza CNG will be lighter than the Ertiga and have a fuel economy rating close to or higher than the 26.11km/kg claimed by Maruti for the Ertiga CNG. In terms of transmissions, we have previously reported that the Brezza CNG is anticipated to offer both a manual and an automatic transmission. It would be the first CNG-powered vehicle in India to have an automatic transmission as a result.
Rivals and Prices in India
The price of the Brezza CNG is anticipated to be Rs 95,000 higher than that of the petrol manual model, which is currently priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 12.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Similar to how the Brezza CNG automatic is anticipated to cost less than the basic petrol automatic, which starts at Rs 10.97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Tata Nexon are a few other compact SUVs that the Brezza CNG will compete against but none of them offers a CNG option.
