Maruti Suzuki S Presso: The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has been assessed by Global NCAP using its updated and improved crash test protocols, which went into effect in July 2022. The S-Presso received a 1-star rating for adult protection and a 0-star rating for child safety in the most recent tests. Global NCAP previously evaluated the India-specific S-Presso in 2020 and gave it a 0-star grade for adult protection and a 2-star rating for kid protection.
Child occupant test results
It received merely 3.52 out of a potential 49 points for kid occupant protection. The S Presso’s lack of ISOFIX anchorage places for children and booster seats was a major factor in the vehicle’s low rating.
The three-year-old dummy’s front-facing kid seat was fastened using the adult seatbelt. It failed to stop forward head movement that went beyond what was allowed, according to test participants. The 18-month-old dummy’s rearward-facing infant seat provided good protection for the head but unsatisfactory protection for the chest in a frontal accident.
Child dummies were not required in the prior protocol’s regulations for side impact assessments. They are now required, though, and the S-Presso provided complete side impact protection.
Maruti Suzuki S Presso Adult occupant test results
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso achieved a 1-star rating for adult occupant safety in the crash testing performed in accordance with the revised GNCAP criteria, receiving 20.03 points out of a possible 34. This includes 8.19 out of a possible 17 points for the frontal offset impact and 11.9 out of a potential 17 points for the side deformable crash test.
The frontal impact test gave the driver’s and passenger’s head protection a “good” rating. The testers observed that the driver’s chest lacked sufficient protection, and this is where significant points were lost. On the other hand, the S-Presso provided merely fair protection for the passenger’s chest.
The S-Presso has previously been put through GNCAP testing. In a test conducted in November 2020, the hatchback, which had only one driver-side airbag, received a rating of 0 stars for adult occupant protection and 2 stars for child occupant protection.
