Maruti Suzuki Sales: India’s biggest automaker, Maruti Suzuki has released its sales data for December 2023 today. The carmaker has recorded a decline in overall sales in December 2023 when compared to the same period in 2022. As per the data provided by the company, the automaker sold a total of 137551 cars in December 2023 as opposed to the sales of 139347 units in December 2022. The highest dip has been recorded in the passenger vehicle sales keeping utility vehicles as an exception.
Maruti Suzuki Records Growth in Exports
On the other hand, the company has witnessed an uptick in exports with 26884 units when compared to 21796 units in December 2022. Maruti Suzuki's overall exports recorded unprecedented growth with exports of 269046 Units in December 2023 when compared to the exports of 263068 units in December 2022.
Mini Segment Sales Declined
Maruti Suzuki’s mini segment which comprises products like S-Presso and Alto recorded a dip with sales of 2557 units in December 2023 when compared to the sales of 9765 units in December 2022. In the company segment too, the brand has recorded a considerable decline by selling 45741 units as compared to the sales of 57502 units in December 2022.
In the mid-size segment, the carmaker has recorded a dramatic decline with sales of just 489 units as opposed to the sales of 1154 units in December 2022. Along with this, the van segment of the Maruti Suzuki recorded a dip from 10581 units in December 2022 to the sales of 10034 units in December 2022.
Utility Vehicles Records Growth
The only segment to record an uptick in domestic sales was the utility vehicles in the carmaker’s portfolio as the brand sold a total of 45957 units as opposed to the sales of 33008 units in December 2022. In the utility segment, Maruti Suzuki has vehicles such as the Maruti Jimny, S-Cross, Brezaa, Ertiga and others.
LCV Sales
Maruti Suzuki has also recorded positive growth in the Light Commercial Vehicle segment by selling a total of 1714 units when compared to the sales of 1525 units in December 2022.
