Top 10 cars: All you need to know about the best selling SUVs of India

Top 10 cars: For a very long period, WagonR consistently topped the sales statistics, with Baleno coming in second. But as of right now, Baleno is the PV model that sells the most in India, with 18,418 units sold, a growth rate of 17.72% year over year and 2.55% month over month, with 15,656 units sold in August 2021 and 17,690 units sold in July 2022. A 13.04% stake of this list is held by Baleno.

Sales of the WagonR are declining, which may be attributable to the recently released, more affordable Alto K10. In August 2022, WagonR sold 18,398 units, representing a 91.90% YoY gain. However, despite selling 22,588 units in July 2022 and controlling a 13.03% share of this list, sales are down 18.55% MoM.

The most intriguing position is held by Brezza in third place. It is currently the most popular SUV, easily outselling Creta and even Nexon, which is unexpected since Brezza was ranked 12th last month. With 15,193 units sold in August 2022, it appears to have recaptured the allure of the original Brezza, growing by 17.72% YoY and 56.48% MoM.

For a very long period, Nexon has maintained the #4 position. For the previous few months, it has been India’s top-selling SUV. It recorded its biggest monthly sales ever last month. But that wasn’t enough to keep the No. 1 SUV position. In August 2022, 15,085 units were sold, representing increase of 50.76% YoY and 6.13% MoM, and a 10.68% share of this list. Alto was ranked 14th and has moved up to 5th in just one month. As we said in our review, Alto K10 is a crowd-pleaser, so this is probably its secret ingredient. It sold 14,388 units, an increase of 58.72% MoM and 8.70% YoY.

Top 10 cars: Sales figure

Nexon has been outsold by SUVs like Brezza, although Creta has yet to catch up. 12,577 units were sold, representing a 0.16% YoY and 0.38% MoM decline. Tata’s little Punch, which has a 5-star crash safety rating, sells 12,006 units in August 2022, representing a 9.08% MoM rise over the 11,007 units it sold in July 2022.

The only ladder-frame van having sliding doors at the moment in India is Eeco. It has no competitors, thus it sells well. The MPV Triber is monocoque. With 11,999 units sold, it was in sixth position last month; however, with 8,04% fewer sales this month than previous, it is now in eighth place in August 2022.

Dzire moves up to ninth place from fifth place last month. Dzire records a 107.70% YoY gain in August 2022 with just 11,868 units sold. but detects a MoM de-growth of 13.67%. Swift’s story is even more terrible because it was in third place last month and was demoted to tenth place in August. With 11,275 units sold in August 2022, sales were down 35.71% month over month and 9.68% year over year.

The fourth generation of Swift is now being tested outside of India. Brezza’s success has been completely unexpected, and it has now surpassed Nexon in terms of highest-selling SUV status. The previous generation Brezza received the maximum 4-star certification for crash safety, and the new Brezza has not yet undergone crash testing. However, Maruti Suzuki asserts that the latest models of the Baleno, Brezza, Ertiga, and similar vehicles are built with accident safety in mind.
