Top-5 SUVs in India: The sub-4-metre SUV market has grown in popularity among first-time purchasers and those wishing to move up from the entry-level segment. These SUVs combine the utility of a hatchback with a high riding position and enough ground clearance to handle India’s poor roads.

Let’s take a look at the top five best-selling sub-4-metre SUVs in August 2022, together with their sales figures and year-on-year growth compared to August 2021.

Kia Sonet

The Kia Sonet was the fifth best-selling sub-4-metre SUV in August, selling 7,838 units this month compared to 7,752 units in August 2021, representing a 1% YoY increase.

Bolero Mahindra

The Mahindra Bolero is up next, having shed some length a few years ago to get into the sub-4 metre category. For more than two decades, the Bolero has been a household brand in India, and it remains a best-seller for Mahindra.Mahindra sold 8,246 units in August 2022, up from 3,218 in August 2021, representing a 156% increase year on year.

Hyundai Event Center

In August 2022, the Venue is Hyundai’s second-best-selling product, and the recent upgrade has given the Venue a new design, helping the company sell more units. Based on the new Venue, a sportier N-Line version of the Hyundai Venue is also available.Hyundai sold 11,240 Venues in August 2022, compared to 8,377 in August 2021, representing a 34% increase year on year.
