Toyota Hyryder: With amazing features and smart pricing, this SUV is all set to give Hyundai Creta Diesel a run for its money

Toyota Hyryder: In India, Toyota has officially debuted the Urban Cruiser Hyryder small SUV. Prices range from Rs.15.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) up to Rs.18.99 lakh for the top-end trim. The Toyota Hyryder is only available in four trim levels: one for the petrol mild hybrid, which also has all-wheel drive, and three for the strong hybrid, all of which come standard with a CVT automatic gearbox. The Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Nissan Kicks are just a few of the competitors the Toyota Hyryder faces.

The first Strong-Hybrid vehicle

Given that the Hyryder Strong Hybrid is stated to have a claimed fuel efficiency of about 28 Kmpl, which is diesel-like, the Hyryder needs to be primarily compared with diesel automatic models of competing SUVs! From that perspective, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder’s pricing (Rs. 15.11 lakh for the base strong hybrid form) appears to be rather competitive considering that the most popular Hyundai Creta Diesel Automatic starts at Rs. 18.09 lakh.

The SUV is produced at Toyota’s Bidadi plant, which is close to Bengaluru, together with its Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara-badged sibling. In addition, the Grand Vitara will debut at the end of this month. Both the Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara have previously received reservations. The Hyryder will soon start to be delivered, whereas the Grand Vitara won’t start to be delivered until late September, after the introduction.

The Toyota Hyryder has 3 segment-first features, all of which are likely to be big draws among buyers.

The SUV is a robust hybrid that combines gasoline and electricity to produce fuel efficiency similar to that of a diesel engine and an incredibly convenient driving experience (thanks to the CVT automatic).
Up to 25 kilometres of short distance can be covered by the SUV in all-electric mode.

The mild hybrid manual grade of the SUV receives an all-wheel drive arrangement, making it the most competent compact SUV available for purchase in India.

The Hyryder’s strong-hybrid powertrain combines an electric motor that generates 78 Bhp-141 Nm with a 1.5 litre, four-cylinder, normally aspirated gasoline engine that produces 92 Bhp-122 Nm. The combined output of this powerplant and the eCVT automatic transmission is 114 bhp. The other option is a mild hybrid powertrain, which combines an electric motor that assists with acceleration with a 1.5 litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine (102 Bhp-135 Nm). The K15C gasoline engine comes with an all-wheel drive system and is mated with a standard five-speed manual transmission.

The Toyota Hyryder has 17-inch alloy wheels, 6 airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, ESP, traction control, and hill-hold assist, as well as a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, a full digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, head-up display, connected car technology, and voice assistance with Google and Siri compatibility. It also has a tyre pressure monitoring system, speed alerts, seat belt reminder warnings, and 3- While the battery pack of the powerful hybrid system comes with an 8 year/160,000 km warranty, a 3 year/100,000 km warranty is common.
