Car Sales October 2025: The month of October 2025 was exceptional for the automobile industry in India, with the festival rush and alluring new launches. Tata Motors led the way once again and garnered impressive growth based on significant sales in both passenger and electric vehicle segments.
Tata Motors Leads the Way
Tata Motors focused on success once again in October, boasting double-digit growth from the previous year. Tata Motors sold 73,877 units, growing 12.22% compared to October 2024. The extremely popular Nexon, Punch, and Tiago EV models were still very appealing to buyers. The brand’s progress through its focus on safety, design, and cost, and very aggressive EV expansion has positioned it in first place in numerous sections.
Steady Progress for Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra profited from a solid festive upturn supported by a strong SUV portfolio. Mahindra & Mahindra sold 66,467 units, a 6.21% increase year-on-year. The Scorpio-N, Thar, and XUV700 continued to have long wait times, reflecting ongoing demand. Mahindra remains well-positioned as a serious challenger to Tata in the utility vehicle segment, with emphasis on premium SUVs and an emerging EV story.
Hyundai Sustains Sales
Hyundai India saw consistent sales through October, driven by the Creta, Venue, and Exter. It continued to face strong competition from Tata and Maruti Suzuki, especially among compact SUVs, as it started a plan to build EVs in India by 2026 to define its future growth.
Market Surge during the Festive Season
Exciting footfalls in showrooms and an uptick in online sales characterise the festive season marked by Navratri and Dussehra. Aggressive discounts, low-interest EMIs, as well as new product launches contributed to one of the best months of the year for the auto industry in 2025.
As automakers prepare for the final push of the year, and importantly for November, consumer confidence remains high, with EV adoption increasing, suggesting India will experience another very good year in the auto market.
