Kejriwal Demands Lower E20 Fuel Prices, Says Cheaper Petrol Can Ease Inflation
Addressing the issue of fuel pricing, Kejriwal said pure petrol should be made available at ₹82 per litre. He further argued that E20 petrol, which contains 20% ethanol blended with petrol, should be priced even lower at around ₹70 per litre, instead of the current rate of about ₹102 per litre.
Calling it a matter of public interest
He also maintained that diesel prices could be reduced using a similar pricing approach. According to Kejriwal, lowering the cost of both petrol and diesel would reduce transportation expenses, which could ultimately bring down the prices of essential goods and services.
Calling it a matter of public interest, the AAP leader urged the Union government to revise fuel prices without delay. He said people across the country are struggling with rising living costs and that affordable fuel would provide much-needed financial relief.
E20 fuel is a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol, introduced as part of India’s efforts to reduce crude oil imports and promote cleaner, domestically produced fuel. While the government has been expanding the availability of E20 fuel, Kejriwal argued that consumers should benefit from its lower production costs through reduced retail prices.
