From Hyundai Grand i10 Nios to Maruti Suzuki Swift; These 5 Cars Have The Lowest GNCAP Crash Test Scores

In the Global NCAP crash test evaluation, concerns have been raised as the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Maruti Suzuki Swift and other popular cars in India have emerged among the bottom performers in terms of safety. The test results shed light on the need for a closer look at the safety features and standards of these popular models. Most of these cars sit in the hatchback segment and have registered their name in the top-selling charts in India. Check out the list below.

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios

Hyundai is the second biggest automaker in India, despite holding a strong position in the Indian automobile market, Hyundai has some vehicles in its portfolio that don’t come with the necessary safety features. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios scored 7.05 out of 34 in the Adult Safety category and 15 out of 49 in the Child Safety category.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis

Despite being a Nexa product, Maruti Suzuki Ignis failed to comply with the Global NCAP standards. The Maruti Ignis has scored 16.48 out of 34 in the adult safety category and 3.86 out of 49 in the child safety category.

Kia Seltos

As a premium sub-compact SUV, the Kia Seltos was expected to score a 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. But, Kia Seltos has also received a 3-star rating by GNCAP. This SUV scored 8.03 out of 34 in the adult safety and 15 out of 49 in the child safety category.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is one of the worst performers in Global NCAP crash tests. This hatchback has received a 1-star rating from GNCAP. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has scored 20.23 out of 34 in adult safety and 3.52 out of 49 in the child safety category.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

Maruti Suzuki is among the top-selling hatchbacks in India, but despite being a top-selling product, it is also the most unsafe product in the Maruti Suzuki portfolio. This hatchback has received a 1-star rating from Global NCAP with a score of 9.69 and 3.40 in the adult and child safety categories respectively.
