Kia India has made the official launch of the eagerly awaited Carens Clavis EV to enter the mainstream electric MPV segment. The Clavis EV starts from ₹17.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and aims to set a new standard for value in the electric 7-seater market with futuristic features, impressive performance, and a comprehensive EV ecosystem.

Two Battery Options, Up to 490 km Range

In terms of battery pack options, the Clavis EV has 2 configurations:

• 42 kWh Standard Range that has an ARAI-certified range of 404 km.

• 51.4 kWh Extended Range that can give an approximate range of up to 490 km in the class.

• One of the best in the segment.

• Both packs drive a single motor that produces 255 Nm of torque. The output is 135 PS (standard) and 171 PS (extended). It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.4 seconds.

Fast Charging & V2L Capabilities

The Clavis EV has the ability to do 100 kW DC fast charging and will charge the battery from 10% to 80% in 39 minutes. Kia is also bringing the Vehicle-to-Load function (V2L) to the Indian market, enabling users to charge external electrical devices such as laptops, electric stoves, or even camping gear.

Design, Comfort, and Tech

The Clavis EV is on the ICE Carens platform but features EV-specific elements in styling, such as

• A closed-off front grille with a charging port built in

• New LED light signatures and 17" aero-wheels

• Ice cube fog lamps with EV blue accent colors are unique

Inside, dual 12.3-inch screens are mounted with a floating centre console providing a storage compartment that is hidden, ventilated front seats, a BOSE 8-speaker system, a sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless charging, and connected car tech via a MyKia app.

The Clavis EV takes safety seriously. It has:

• 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and disc brakes on all 4 wheels
