Tata vs Mahindra: Tata reiterates its supremacy in the electric vehicle market, this is what they shared

Tata vs Mahindra: Tata Motors is well known for trolling rival automakers, and this isn’t the first time the Indian carmaker has done so. Tata Nexon EV sales have surpassed the 35,000 mark, and the automaker celebrated by trolling the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 in an Instagram post. In a clear reference to the Mahindra XUV400, which will go on sale in India starting in January 2023, the Instagram image simply says 35,000>00.

Why did Tata troll Mahindra?

Mahindra had a significant competitive advantage over Tata Motors in the electric vehicle industry because the former had purchased Reva Electric, but it was unable to take advantage of this acquisition and introduce new electric vehicles to the market. Despite a sluggish start, Tata Motors has introduced a large number of electric vehicles in India and is currently the market leader.

Where do both companies stand in the EV market?

The Tiago EV, India’s most inexpensive electric hatchback with a starting price of Rs. 8.49 lakh for the first 20,000 purchasers, will begin shipping next month from Tata Motors. Additionally, Tata Motors offers the Tigor EV, a small sedan, and the Nexon EV, the best-selling electric vehicle in India. The carmaker is probably going to introduce the electric versions of the Punch mini SUV and the mid-sized SUV Harrier in 2023.

When Mahindra introduces the XUV400 in early January, it will make its first significant impact in the electric vehicle market. The Mahindra XUV400 is primarily a diesel and petrol-powered XUV300 that has been electrified. The XUV300, which was originally the Ssangyong Tivoli, was shrunk to under 4 metres for the Indian market’s excise benefits. The XUV400, on the other hand, won’t be subject to these restrictions because it’s an electric car and doesn’t qualify for the excise duty exemption for vehicles shorter than 4 metres. As a result, the SUV will be bigger and have bigger cargo.
