Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Priced between Rs. 10.45 Lakh – Rs.19.65 Lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), the eagerly anticipated Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has finally been launched. The Grand Vitara, a competitor of the recently released Toyota urban Cruiser Hyryder, not only features hybrid powertrains but also reintroduces 4WD to this market after the Renault Duster AWD was discontinued. It is now Maruti’s flagship vehicle in India and the second vehicle to be released as the company’s ongoing SUV onslaught.
With a waiting time of up to five and a half months, reservations for the Grand Vitara, which are being taken for a token of Rs. 11,000, have already surpassed 55,000 units.
Dual-tone colour options are also available for the Grand Vitara on the top Alpha, Zeta+, and Alpha+ trims for an extra Rs. 16,000 in price. The SUV is furthermore available for purchase through Maruti Suzuki Subscribe for a monthly subscription charge that starts at Rs. 27,000.
With the strong-hybrid variants, Maruti Suzuki is providing a unique introductory package that includes an extended warranty of 5 years/1,00,000 km (up from the regular 2 years/40,000 km) and a genuine Nexa accessory pack worth more than Rs. 67,000.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Powertrain
The Grand Vitara’s two engine options, which it shares with the Hyryder are the subject of the most debate. A 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission are available to pair with the 103 horsepower, 1.5-litre K15C petrol mild-hybrid engine, which is already used in a number of Maruti Suzuki cars. Like in the Hyryder, the top-tier mild-hybrid manual variant is the only one having the AWD system.
According to Maruti, the manual AWD variant’s economy is 19.38 kpl, compared to 20.58 kpl for automatics and 21.11 kpl for manual variations. The Grand Vitara is also equipped with a 1.5-litrem three-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine with 92 horsepower and an electric motor with 79 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque from Toyota.
The hybrid drivetrain’s total output is 115 horsepower, and it is mated to an e-CVT transmission. For this powerplant, Maruti claims an efficiency of 27.97 kpl.
What amounts to the external styling on Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara?
The front design of the Grand Vitara sets it out from the Toyota Hyryder the most. The Grand Vitara’s front fascia shares design ideas with the Suzuki S-Cross marketed abroad and features a big, chrome-lined hexagonal grille, three-point LED daytime running lamps, a main headlight cluster positioned on the bumper, and much of body cladding.\

The Hyryder shares the same side body panels, tailgate, and even the rear bumper with integrated taillamps. However, the Maruti is the only vehicle with a full-width LED light bar on the tailgate, a chrome appliqué on the C-pillar, and distinct alloy wheel designs.
How does the interior fair on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara?
The only obvious difference between the Grand Vitara’s interior and that of the Hyryder is the colour schemes. The steering wheel on both is the same as that on more recent Maruti Suzuki vehicles. Both SUVs share the same instrument panel, touchscreen infotainment system, and switchgear throughout.
