Ganga Expressway: Uttar Pradesh’s Pride To Open Soon. UP’s Gamechanger?

Ganga Expressway, which stretches from Meerut to Prayagraj, is likely to be operational soon.

Ganga Expressway: Ganga Expressway, which stretches from Meerut to Prayagraj, is all set to become fully operational by early next year, with construction now in the final stages.

Benefits Of Ganga Expressway

The corridor spans 12 districts and more than 500 villages. Built with six lanes with future expansion to eight, the expressway also has a 3.5 kilometer airstrip in Shahjahanpur for the use of Indian Air Force. The Ganga Expressway will cut travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to 78 hours and between Delhi to Prayagraj to 7 hours.

Uttar Pradesh signed an agreement this year with ETH Zurich University and Switzerland-based RTDT Laboratories AG to elevate the project to world-class standards. The collaboration involves the use of artificial intelligence-driven monitoring as well as advanced sensor technology to track the quality of construction materials in real time. The implemented systems can detect surface deviations or structural irregularities during execution, which will help engineers to make on-the-spot corrections.

The same systems will be deployed on the 91.35 km Gorakhpur Link Expressway following the successful deployment on the Ganga Expressway.

How Will Ganga Expressway Help Cities in Uttar Pradesh?

Industrial clusters are planned along every important expressway in the state, including the Ganga Expressway route through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, Sambhal, Budaun and Prayagraj.

The Ganga Expressway intersects 140 water bodies and it includes an extensive inventory of civil structures: 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges, 28 flyovers, 50 vehicle underpasses, 171 light vehicle underpasses, 7 overbridges, 17 interchanges, 160 small vehicle underpasses and 946 culverts.
