MP Viral Video: Plaster Falls from Ceiling at PM Shri School in Bhopal, Two Students Injured

A concerning incident has surfaced from a PM Shri School in Bhopal, where a portion of the ceiling plaster collapsed, injuring two girl students. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, raising serious questions about the quality of infrastructure and maintenance in government schools selected under the PM Shri (PM Schools for Rising India) scheme.

According to reports, the incident occurred just a week after a similar plaster fall in the same school, pointing toward continued structural negligence.

Background on PM Shri Scheme

The PM Shri Yojana is a flagship education initiative launched by the central government.

Under the scheme, 14,500 schools across India have been selected for development as model schools.

A total of ₹27,360 crore has been allocated for their upgradation over five years, aimed at creating centers of excellence in public education.

Safety Concerns Mount

This incident from Bhopal has sparked outrage among parents and local citizens, with many demanding accountability from school authorities and education officials. The repeated failure to address evident structural issues despite prior warning incidents has highlighted serious lapses in monitoring and execution under the scheme.

Officials Yet to Respond

As of now, no official statement has been issued by the school administration or Madhya Pradesh education department regarding the cause of the collapse or the condition of the injured students. However, locals have urged the government to conduct a thorough safety audit of all PM Shri schools in the state before any further mishaps occur.

The viral video has intensified the debate around the quality vs. quantity approach in large-scale education schemes and emphasized the urgent need to prioritize student safety alongside infrastructure development.
