Navi Mumbai International Airport: From Construction Site To Sky, Gautam Adani Takes The Unsung Heroes To The Skies, Is This The Real Shining India?

Navi Mumbai International Airport: The inauguration ceremony at the Navi Mumbai International Airport saw Gautam Adani personally greeting passengers.

Navi Mumbai International Airport: Gautam Adani, the chairman of Adaani Group, personally welcomed workers who were part of the construction of the newly constructed airport in Navi Mumbai.

What Was Special About The First Day At Navi Mumbai International Airport?

The inauguration ceremony at the Navi Mumbai International Airport concluded with a ceremonial walk via the airport’s departure terminal. Param Veer Chakra recipients Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar and Captain Bana Singh led the flag-hoisting ceremony, and the Indian national anthem.

Prominent public figures and sportsperson such as Suryakumar Yadav (cricketer), Mithali Raj (cricketer) and Sunil Chhetri (footballer) along with social media influencers Malini Agarwal and Viraj Ghelani attended the event.

IndiGo, Akasa Air, Air India Express and Star Air were the initial four carriers. A commemorative first flight carried special cover flown on an IndiGo service to Goa was released by India Post.

Gautam Adani Shares Experiences

Gautam Adani took to X to share a clip of the first day’s operations. The clip featured the experiences of workers and first-time flyers on flight number 6E460, travelling from Bengaluru, which landed at the Navi Mumbai International Airport at 8:00 am. The flight received a traditional water cannon salute.

The airport handled a total of 48 flights on the first day connecting 9 domestic destinations. It served approximately 4,000 passengers on the first day with peak traffic being recorded between 5 am to 7 am.

About The Navi Mumbai International Airport

The airport was developed and is being operated by a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Limited called Adani Airports Holdings Limited. With the launch of the airport, congestion at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is expected to ease down significantly.

The airport has a capacity of handling 20 million passengers along with 0.5 million metric tonnes of cargo every year in the initial phase. Upon full completion, the airport will be able to handle 90 million passengers every year.
