Petrol and Diesel Price Update: The cost of petrol and diesel has remained unchanged on Friday, December 23, 2022. On May 21, Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, announced a reduction in excise taxes for petrol and diesel of Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively. On July 15, the Maharashtra government announced a reduction in Value-Added Tax (VAT) of Rs 5 per litre for gasoline and Rs 3 per litre for diesel.

Every day at 6 a.m., the price of petrol and diesel is changed. Value Added Tax (VAT), freight expenditures, municipal taxes, and other factors all contribute to state-to-state variations in fuel prices.

Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum revise fuel rates daily, taking into account crude and rupee-dollar rates in international markets. Daily price changes for fuel are effected at 6 am every day.
