Priya Sachdev Kapur, wife of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, has quietly changed her Instagram handle to “Priya Sunjay Kapur.” This small update came shortly after she was appointed to the board of Sona Comstar, the auto parts company her husband once led.
The move may seem personal, but it comes during a major family dispute over the late billionaire’s empire worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore. Sunjay passed away on June 12 during a polo match in England. He was 53.

Her new handle and bio appeared just days after the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 25, where Priya was officially appointed as a non-executive director at Sona Comstar. Her appointment reportedly went ahead despite objections from her mother-in-law, Rani Kapur.
Rani Kapur Questions Appointment, Raises Legal Concerns
Rani Kapur (Sunjay’s mother) raised serious objections over the company’s decisions following her son’s death. She claims she was pressured into signing legal documents shortly after the incident and believes she is the rightful representative of the Kapur family in business matters.
She has not named Priya directly but referred to the “appointment of certain directors” in her official objections, which many believe was aimed at her daughter-in-law.
Will Dispute And Suspicion Around Sunjay Kapur’s Death
Rani has also brought forward an old will from 2015, which she claims names her as the sole beneficiary of her late husband Surinder Kapur’s estate. She says this makes her the majority shareholder in the group, including Sona Comstar.
Adding to the tension, Rani has described her son’s death as happening under “highly suspicious and unexplained circumstances,” although early reports suggested a heart attack during a polo match.

Sunjay Kapur was a well-known business figure and social personality. He was earlier married to Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, and they have two children (Samaira and Kiaan). After their divorce in 2016, he married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and the couple had a son named Azarias.
