Top 5 stocks of the day: From Kotak Mahindra Bank to Tata Steel, here are the top gainers today

Top 5 stocks of the day: In the Nifty, the top gainers included Kotak Mahindra Bank, JSW Steel, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, and Tata Steel, while the top losers were HCL Technologies, TCS, Infosys, Asian Paints, and Wipro. The indexes for the auto, bank, metal, oil & gas, and power industries all increased by 1%, while the IT index decreased by about 1%. The BSE smallcap index increased by 0.6 percent and the midcap index increased by 0.4 percent.

Top 5 stocks of the day: Sensex and Nifty

On April 11, benchmark indices closed the day higher, with the Nifty above 17,700, helped by buying in all sectors excluding information technology. The Nifty was up 98.30 points or 0.56 percent at 17,722.30, while the Sensex was up 311.21 points or 0.52 percent at 60,157.72. A total of 2,183 shares rose, 1,260 fell, and 109 were unchanged.

Dollar slides on European market reopening

Tuesday saw the dollar give back gains made the day before versus the euro and the pound but hold some gains made against the yen as traders’ focus shifted to the U.S. inflation data, which is coming on Wednesday and will provide insight into how near U.S. rates are to peaking.

As most European markets opened following the lengthy Easter weekend, the euro increased by 0.4 percent to $1.0903 while the pound increased by 0.5 percent to $1.2439.
