US Israel Iran War Fallout: The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has urged the Union Government to immediately intervene as restaurants across India have reported massive supply shortages in the context of commercial cooking Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
NRAI warned disruptions to LPG cylinder supply would translate to a “catastrophic closure” of restaurants.

In a letter to the Union petroleum and natural gas ministry, NRAI remarked that the Indian restaurant industry heavily depends on commercial LPG products for its effective operations. It was added that disruptions of any nature could result in a catastrophic closure of majority of restaurants.
It was stated by the NRAI that a government order of March 5 directing oil marketing companies in the public sector to make sure LPG is supplied to domestic consumers has severely impacted commercial gas cylinder deliveries to restaurants.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Hotel Owners Association has issued a warning that it would shut down all restaurants in the city if the commercial cylinder supply is not immediately restored.
PC Rao, the President of BBHO Association, remarked immediate intervention is required at the earliest to ensure commercial gas supply.
In a letter, the association said the common people, medical professionals, senior citizens, students and others depend heavily on hotels of the city for their daily meals. The letter also stated that oil companies had previously communicated to us that there would be no gas supply disruptions for up to 70 days but the sudden supply suspension has caused a severe blow to the hotel & catering industries. The letter also stated that all Bengaluru restaurants would shut down from March 10, 2026.
In another development, around 20 percent of restaurants and hotels in Delhi and Mumbai have shut down because of commercial LPG supply disruptions, according to the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR). It was warned by AHAR that up to 50 percent city hotels could possibly shut down within the next 2-3 days if commercial gas supply is not immediately restored.
