Aamir Khan: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan finds himself in controversy again over a small advertisement. The clip has led to an uproar on social media and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra advising Aamir Khan to stay away from advertisements and not do things that hurt religious sentiments.
The 50-second clip by AU Small Finance Bank advertisement that features Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani, shows the two as a married couple driving home after the wedding.
The duo is discussing how neither of them cried during their "bidai". It then goes on to show Khan moving into his bride’s household and taking his first step inside, as against the traditional Indian culture of the bride shifting into the groom’s house. Khan then explains how these small changes can help bring about bigger transformations.
Commenting on the advertisement, Mishra said, “I have seen actor Aamir Khan’s advertisement for a private bank after receiving a complaint. I request him to do such advertisements by keeping the Indian traditions and customs in mind.” “I do not consider it appropriate. Such things about Indian tradition, customs and deities keep coming, especially about Aamir Khan. The sentiments of a particular religion are hurt by such acts. I believe he is not allowed to hurt anyone’s sentiments” Mishra is also the state government’s spokesperson.

Uproar on social media
The advertisement created an uproar on the social media as many netizens commented they would close their accounts with the bank. Hashtags like #BoycottAUSmallFinanceBank and #BoycottAamirKhan were also trending on Twitter.
Criticising the advertisement, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri said, “I just fail to understand since when Banks have become responsible for changing social & religious traditions? I think @aubankindia should do activism by changing corrupt banking system. Aisi bakwaas karte hain fir kehte hain Hindus are trolling. Idiots,” Agnihotri tweeted on Tuesday.
