AAP govt to import 18 oxygen tankers from Bangkok, 21 from France

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today addressed a press conference on the COVID-19 situation in the national capital. He talked about the oxygen tankers being imported from Bangkok and increasing the ICU beds in the national capital. He said that the Oxygen crisis witnessed in Delhi last week has been controlled to an extent, situation has improved significantly.

In total, he said that 44 oxygen plants will be set up in the national capital. While 21 will be imported from France, the city government will set up 15. The remaining eight plants will be set up by the Centre.

“We are importing 21 ready-to-use Oxygen plants from France. They can be brought to use immediately. These will be installed at different hospitals and this will help us in resolving Oxygen crisis in those hospitals,” Kejriwal said while addressing the media here.

He noted that the oxygen tankers from Bangkok will start arriving tomorrow. “We have requested the Centre to allow the use of Air Force planes for this purpose. Talks are on, I’m very hopeful that talks will be successful. This will resolve the issue of transport.”

Kejriwal noted that industrialists and chief ministers across the country have helped the Delhi government in fighting the oxygen crisis. “We are receiving tremendous support, we have received offers from many people. Many of them are helping. I thank everyone who is helping the Delhi government,” he said.

The ongoing Covid-19 surge in the national capital has left hospitals overburdened and people are searching for beds with oxygen support.

Delhi witness 20,201 new cases of COVID-19:

On Monday, Delhi witness 20,201 new cases which took the caseload to 1,047,916, according to the health department’s bulletin. 380 people died in the last 24 hours, marking the highest-ever single-day spike in deaths since the beginning of the pandemic last year. The death toll in Delhi stood at 14,628, while the total number of recoveries reached 940,930. Currently, Delhi has 92,358 active cases.
