AAP leader Anurag Dhanda questions ED action in Sanjeev Arora-linked export case

He also alleged political motivations behind the action, though no official confirmation supporting the claim has been made publicly.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Anurag Dhanda questioned the credibility of the Enforcement Directorate while reacting to allegations related to a mobile phone export case involving businessman Sanjeev Arora and Hampton Sky Realty Limited.

Dhanda referred to a press statement issued by Hampton Sky Realty Limited, in which the company defended its export operations and claimed that all exported mobile phones were verified through official customs and electronic tracking systems.

Anurag Dhanda: Company cites IMEI and customs verification

According to the company’s statement, exports involving branded mobile phones, including Apple iPhones, AirPods, Samsung, and OnePlus devices, underwent multiple layers of verification. The company stated that IMEI numbers of the handsets were scanned and recorded through the Customs ICEGATE system before export clearance.

The statement further claimed that global manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung verified that several devices were activated outside India after export, which the company cited as proof of genuine overseas shipment.

Questions raised over ED allegations

Anurag Dhanda argued that the company’s explanation and electronic verification details weaken the allegations levelled in the case. He also alleged political motivations behind the action, though no official confirmation supporting the claim has been made publicly.

No official response on allegations

There has been no immediate response from the Enforcement Directorate regarding the political allegations raised by the AAP leader.

Debate over investigative agencies continues

The issue has added to the broader political debate over the functioning of investigative agencies and high-profile financial investigations, with opposition leaders continuing to question the timing and intent of enforcement actions.
