Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was detained by Delhi Police on October 16, shortly before a planned national flag march in the capital. Student leader and All India Students’ Association (AISA) chief Neha Bora was also detained near Jantar Mantar amid police action against protesters. The developments came ahead of the proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place.

Abhijeet Dipke Detained Before ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ March
According to media reports, police visited Dipke’s residence and served him a notice prohibiting the planned march. The notice cited restrictions in the Connaught Place area and stated that permission for the proposed Tiranga Yatra had not been granted by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
Police informed Dipke that carrying the national flag was not prohibited, but an unauthorised march or gathering could violate the restrictions in force. Dipke questioned the grounds for his detention during his interaction with the police.
Neha Bora Picked Up Near Jantar Mantar
Neha Bora, a student leader and AISA chief, was detained near Jantar Mantar as authorities acted against attempts to hold protests in the capital. Her detention came amid wider demonstrations linked to demands for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation and objections to changes in electoral rolls.
CJP Members’ Detentions Preceded Proposed March
The proposed march followed the detention and judicial custody of CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. They were sent to five days of judicial custody after allegedly entering Jantar Mantar while waving the national flag on October 13, a day after the site was removed from the list of designated protest locations.
The latest detentions came amid heightened restrictions around Connaught Place. Police cited prohibitory orders and the absence of official permission for the proposed march as reasons for preventing the gathering.
