Adhir Ranjan says ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark was slip of tongue, will apologise to President

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remarks about President Draupadi Murmu have created a political uproar. BJP and Congress are constantly attacking each other.

Chowdhury’s reference to Murmu, India’s first tribal President, as “rashtrapatni” triggered a war of words between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.

BJP has raised its voice against this from Parliament to the road. In the capital Bhopal also, BJP leaders marched till the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to Governor Mangubhai Patel.

It is worth mentioning that Adhir Ranjan he accepts his mistake of referring to President Droupadi Murmu as ‘rashtrapatni’ and said that he will apologise to the President. While accepting his mistake, he further stated that he is a Bengali and is not used to Hindi. Saying that he has sough time from the President, Chowdhury, however, hit out at those criticising him saying he will not apologise to these ‘pakhandis’ (hypocrites).

BJP state president Vishnu Dutt Sharma, cabinet minister Vishwas Sarang and many workers gathered at the Gandhi statue located at Minto Hall.

After giving a dharna here, everyone marched till the Raj Bhavan. There a memorandum was submitted to Governor Mangubhai Patel demanding the dismissal of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

BJP state president Vishnu Dutt Sharma said that the kind of remark made by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is unbearable. Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi should apologize for this. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury should be sacked immediately.

CM Shivraj has also targeted the Congress on this issue. The CM said in his statement that the President is the highest office of the country. The President does not belong to any party, the President belongs to the whole country. But the despicable mentality displayed by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is unforgivable. He has insulted the President of India. A woman who comes from a tribal society is sitting on the highest presidency of the country. This is an insult to a sister sitting in the highest position. This is an insult to women power. This is an insult to our tribal sisters.
