Arogya Kosh scheme benefited 4.27 lakh patients claims Delhi govt

Under the Delhi Arogya Kosh scheme, Delhiites are getting facilities like free tests, free implants, surgery, free treatment in case of road accidents. On Friday, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia held a meeting with the officials of the Health Department regarding these facilities being available to the people without any problem. Sisodia directed the officers to make the facilities better and easier to reach more and more people under the Arogya Kosh Yojana. From year-2017 to March-2022, more than 4.27 lakh patients have been benefited under this scheme and Rs 168.43 crore has been spent by the Delhi government for this.

Sisodia said that under this scheme, any citizen of Delhi goes to Delhi government hospitals for treatment and there is waiting for investigation or treatment and if the patient needs treatment immediately, then the patient can go to the private hospital and get his cashless check-up. The cost of this is borne by the Delhi Government. Under this scheme, every citizen of Delhi can get treatment, who has Delhi’s voter card. People below 19 years of age will get this facility on the basis of their parents voter card.

For this scheme, the patient has to submit his application and other documents to the Delhi Arogya Kosh. After their screening, the government bears the cost of implants used during the treatment of the patient up to 5 lakhs. It is completely cashless scheme. In the last five years, 5028 people have taken advantage of this and Delhi government has given Rs 47.61 crore for this.

Sisodia said that apart from all government hospitals, private hospitals and many recognized labs have also been linked under the Arogya Kosh scheme. About 136 types of medical tests can be done free of cost. While waiting in the government hospital, patients can get all the medical tests including X-ray to MRI, CT scan and ultrasound including expensive tests done free of cost from private hospitals and labs. Under the scheme, in the last 5 years, more than 3.91 lakh people have availed free medical test from private hospitals and labs and the government has given Rs 68.34 crore for this.

There is a waiting time for surgery in Delhi government hospitals, but if there is a need for immediate treatment, patients can get the surgery done free of cost in a private hospital under the ‘Free Surgery Scheme’. But, the waiting should be more than 30 days in a government hospital. Under the scheme, 11,669 people have availed free and cashless surgery in the last five years and the government has given Rs 24.37 crore for it.

The ‘Farishte Yojana’ is also included under the Arogya Kosh. Under this, a person suffering from accidents like road accident, burns in fire gets free treatment in a government hospital, but if he is admitted to a private hospital within 72 hours of the accident, then all the expenses of his treatment will be paid by the Delhi government. In the last three years, 18,919 people have benefited from this scheme of the Kejriwal government and thousands of lives have been saved due to immediate treatment.
