ASSOCHAM Organises15th International Education Summit & Skill Development Summit 2022

ASSOCHAM (Association of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) hosted the 15th International Leadership and Skills Development Summit 2022 at Shangri-La, New Delhi, on 13 April 2022. The theme of the summit was ‘driving innovation and inspiring minds through Industry-Academia-Alliance.’


Mr. Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM National Council on Education, started the proceedings by welcoming the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC, and others to the summit. The summit was attended by numerous VCs, directors, academicians, and corporates from the length and breadth of the country.


Mr. Kunwar Shekhar highlighted Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering the Indian youth with quality education. He praised the Prime Minister for introducing the New Education Policy 2020, saying the new policy will be a game-changer, revolutionary, and bring out the best in the youth.


Mr. Kunwar Shekhar said that ASSOCHAM acts as a conduit between the industry and academia. He said the Association earnestly works to bridge the digital divide present in the education sector.
In her address, the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel praised the contribution of ASSOCHAM in the field of education. She said she hopes that the way ASSOCHAM has helped industries, corporates, and start-ups to bring out the best, the same way they will help students shape their future.
Praising the Government of India’s New Education Policy, she said the policy will help the youth choose the right courses as the policy introduces new fields such as Robotics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.


The Hon’ble Governor said that Uttar Pradesh is doing substantial work in imparting quality education to the youth of this country by strengthening the Anganwadis. She said the dream of Prime Minister Modi of making India “Atmanirbhar” is easily achievable with the New Education Policy as it focuses on skill development programs.


Addressing the gathering in the second half of the session, Mr. Ajay Bhatt, Union Minister of State for Tourism and Defence, said that India has always had a rich culture in education since time immemorial. He said we were the actual “Vishwa Guru” in the education sector, and we can attain the same status if we start providing quality education to our youth. He said the NEP was a much-needed policy change and a step in the right direction that will help India achieve its true potential.
The minister also distributed various awards to the stakeholders.


In his address, the chairman of UGC, Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said that the organisation is working in the direction of providing quality education to all. He praised the new education policy, saying it was the driving force behind the UGC’s vision.


He said more colleges and universities are coming up in the rural belt to impart quality education to those who need it the most. Mr. Kumar said the UGC was committed to fulfilling the dream of the Prime Minister of providing a thrust to online education.


Mr. Deepak Sood, Secretary-General, ASSOCHAM, assured complete support of the Association to provide better and quality education to the country’s youth. He said the Association was doing many things to empower women. The summit also had three technical sessions deliberating the way forward in the field of education in India.


Presenting the vote of thanks, Mr. Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra again emphasise to empower the youth with modern education as envisioned in the New Education Policy 2020.
