Bank Holidays in September 2022: Banks will be closed for 21 days in October 2022

Bank Holidays in September 2022: In India, October is a month of celebrations, hence there are various bank holidays associated with it. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) vacation schedule, banks in some states would be closed for up to 21 days. Other holidays, like Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, are national holidays while some are regional. Regional holidays only affect a few states’ bank branches, however all banks are closed nationwide during national holidays.

In addition, a bank holiday is observed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

In October 2022, the following Bank Holidays in September 2022 are scheduled:

  • Bank accounts will be closed on Saturday, October 1 (Gangtok).
  • Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) is celebrated on October 3 (Monday) in Agartala, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Imphal, Kolkata, Patna, and Ranchi.
  • Tuesday, October 4, is Durga Puja, Dussehra (Maha Navami), Ayudha Pooja, and Srimanta Sankardeva’s Janmotsav. Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gangtok, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong, and Trivandrum are just a few of the cities that are mentioned.
  • Wednesday, October 5: Durga Puja, Vijaya Dashmi’s Dussehra, and Srimanta Sankardeva’s Janmotsav [apart from Imphal]
  • Thursday, October 6: Durga Puja (Dasain) in Gangtok
  • Friday, October 7: Durga Puja (Dasain) in Gangtok.
  • Saturday, October 8 is Milad-i-Sherif/Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi in Bhopal, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Trivandrum.
  • Thursday, October 13: Karva Chauth in Shimla.
  • Friday, October 14th, following Eid ul-Adha In Jammu and Srinagar
  • Sunday, October 16
  • Tuesday, October 18: Kati Bihu [Guwahati]

the fourth Saturday in October

  • 23rd October: Sunday
  • Unless you live in Gangtok, Hyderabad, or Imphal, October 24 (Monday) is Kali Puja, Deepavali, Diwali (Laxmi Pujan), and Naraka Chaturdashi.
  • Durga Puja (Dasain) [Gangtok] on October 7 (Friday).
  • Milad-i-Sherif/Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi on October 8 (Saturday) in Bhopal, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Trivandrum.
  • Karva Chauth [Shimla] is on Thursday, October 13.
  • The day after Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi, October 14, is a Friday. [Srinagar, Jammu]
  • 16 October: Sunday
  • Kati Bihu [Guwahati] on October 18 (Tuesday).
  • Fourth Saturday on October 22.
  • Sunday, October 23
  • Monday, October 24 is Kali Puja, Deepavali, Diwali (Laxmi Pujan), and Naraka Chaturdashi, with the exception of Gangtok, Hyderabad, and Imphal.

Bhaidooj/Chitragupt Jayanti/Laxmi Puja/Deepawali/Ningol Chakkouba [Gangtok, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow] on Thursday, October 27.

  • 30th October: Sunday
  • Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday, Surya Pashti Dala Chhath (Morning Ardhya), and Chhath Puja [Ahmedabad, Patna, Ranchi] on October 31 (Monday).
